The PPC Cement Riebeeck Bergmarathon is known as one of the most picturesque marathons in South Africa. The race is set in the scenic Riebeek Valley known for its olives, wine and warm hospitality. This year the marathon celebrates its 27th anniversary and is set to take place on Saturday, 28 July 2012 at PPC in Riebeeck West.

A Comrade's qualifier, the event offers athletes and their families the perfect opportunity to take a break and experience a weekend away in a charming setting. Serious runners can tackle the 42.2km marathon or the 21.1km half marathon. For those who want to enjoy the scenic Riebeek valley at a more relaxed pace, there is a 10km run/walk or a 5km fun run/walk.

The event attracts athletes from all over the country and has been a highlight on the Western Cape marathon calendar since its inception 26 years ago. The route is popular for its attractive views and friendly atmosphere and the town boasts numerous restaurants, art galleries and boutique shops.

The PPC Cement Riebeeck Bergmarathon has been recognized by Boland Athletics in accordance with their five star merit system for being the best organized event & best sponsored event in 2011.
