PPC Zimbabwe Donates to Danhiko Secondary School
Danhiko Secondary School have received a timely donation of 100 desks and 100 chairs from cement manufacturer PPC Zimbabwe.
At a function attended by guests including officials from the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, staff and students, PPC Zimbabwe said that the donation was in recognition of the magnitude of the work that Danhiko Project has achieved since its inception in 1981.
“Danhiko’s values of Ubuntu, patriotism, empathy, integrity, professionalism, loyalty and humility are values that resonate with us at PPC. We believe that our role is to make builder’s projects easier to complete from start to finish, and to support our customers as our most valuable partners, through the building materials and solutions we provide,” PPC’s representative said.
It is part of PPC’s ethos that they are not in business for business’ sake, as seen in its activities across the continent where the cement manufacturer contributed to developing African infrastructure and African people, supporting and enriching the people who surround their facilities.
PPC recently completed and commissioned a new $80 million cement milling plant not very far from Danhiko, and the gesture was part of the company’s priority to uplift and invest in local people by giving back to the community.
“Just as Danhiko provides the ladder that helps disabled and disadvantaged Zimbabweans to reach the summit of their aspirations and ability, at PPC we believe we can make a meaningful impact and we are privileged to be able to support Danhiko Project in this way,” said PPC.
He said that as every builder needed his tools, and every project had its inputs, providing education was no different.
“In the task to educate and to be educated, there are many tools that are needed to ensure that the knowledge the teacher holds is passed on to the student as efficiently as possible. Many of us present here today understand the irreplaceable value of receiving an education, and what a difference having the basic tools makes,” PPC said.
The donation was presented to the Director Mr Kufakwedeke and secondary school headmaster Mr Musariri in the presence of excited staff and pupils.
Danhiko Project was established to deliver quality education, skills training and production for people with disabilities and the disadvantaged within society to prepare them for employment and self-employment.
